Description

This chocolate ganache frosting combines rich flavor with simple preparation. Ideal for adding a decadent touch to cakes and cupcakes, it’s made with just chocolate and cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter (optional)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  • Chop the chocolate finely and place it in a heatproof bowl.
  • Heat the cream in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbles form around the edges, then remove from heat.
  • Pour hot cream over chopped chocolate and let sit for 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir from the center outward until the mixture is smooth and glossy; add optional ingredients if desired.
  • Adjust consistency for glazing or frosting as needed.

Notes

Keep an eye on the cream while heating to avoid boiling.
If the ganache is too thick, reheat gently and add cream as needed.
Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to a week.
