Ingredients

  • Brioche or Challah Bread
  • Eggs
  • Whole Milk
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • Butter or Cooking Spray
  • Maple Syrup, Powdered Sugar, or Berries for Serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  • Cut the bread into quarters and press pieces into the muffin cups.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture evenly over the bread, allowing it to soak.
  • Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden and puffed up.
  • Cool briefly before removing from the tin and serve warm with syrup or toppings.

Notes

Ensure bread is not overly soaked to prevent sogginess.
Use room temperature eggs for smooth mixing.
Stale bread works better for soaking up custard.
