Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla and food coloring.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture without overmixing.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough, roll into balls, and then coat in powdered sugar.
- Place on baking sheets, ensuring they're spaced apart, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
For gluten-free cookies, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
Ensure butter is softened for better mixing and cookie texture.
