Description

This Spicy Bacon Tomato Pasta combines crispy bacon, creamy sauce, and fresh basil, creating an irresistible meal that’s quick to prepare and bursting with flavor.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces uncooked pasta
  • 4 strips thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste (double concentrated)
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (or to taste)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 small handful fresh basil (sliced thin)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  • Boil salted water and cook pasta until al dente, reserving some pasta water before draining.
  • Crisp the bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until done, then drain excess fat, leaving some for flavor.
  • Sauté chopped onion until softened, then add minced garlic.
  • Pour in white wine and scrape the skillet to lift flavors, then let it bubble for 30 seconds.
  • Stir in tomato paste, cream, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes to create the sauce; let simmer until thick.
  • Mix in crispy bacon and fresh basil, then stir in parmesan cheese until melted.
  • Toss cooked pasta in the sauce, adjust with reserved pasta water if needed, and serve.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute turkey bacon or use gluten-free pasta.
Adjust the spice level with more or fewer crushed red pepper flakes.
For a dairy-free option, use coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
