Description

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this delightful Puppy Chow! Featuring a delicious blend of Rice Chex, creamy peanut butter, and a vibrant green hue, this treat is perfect for festive gatherings. Simple to prepare and utterly irresistible, it’s a must-have for all snack lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 ounces white almond bark (divided 18oz and 6oz)
  • 11 cups rice chex cereal (divided 8 cups and 3 cups)
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 510 drops green food coloring or gel equivalent
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup gold sanding sugar

Instructions

  • Prepare two large half-sheet pans by lining them with parchment or wax paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add 8 cups of Rice Chex cereal.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 18 ounces of almond bark with 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter for 60 seconds; stir and heat in 30-second increments until smooth.
  • Stir green food coloring into the melted mixture until you achieve your desired green color.
  • Pour the green almond bark mixture over the 8 cups of Rice Chex and fold gently to coat evenly.
  • Add 1 cup powdered sugar to the bowl and fold until the green color appears and pieces are separated. Spread them on the first sheet pan.
  • In another bowl, place 3 cups of Rice Chex cereal.
  • Melt the remaining 6 ounces of almond bark in the microwave until smooth.
  • Pour the melted bark over the 3 cups of Rice Chex and stir to coat. Spread on the second sheet pan.
  • Sprinkle gold sanding sugar over the wet white cereal, tossing gently to coat all pieces.
  • Let both sheets cool for 30-60 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes to set. Break apart any clumps and mix the green and gold pieces in a large serving bowl.

Notes

Ensure to stir in the food coloring gradually until you achieve the preferred shade of green.
You can refrigerate the mixture to speed up the setting process.
Feel free to adjust the amount of gold sanding sugar based on your preference.
