  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 pound elbow pasta, uncooked
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 cups sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat, whisk in flour to form a roux for 1 minute.
  • Add water and milk to the roux, whisking until smooth and creamy.
  • Stir in uncooked pasta, garlic powder, mustard, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then simmer until pasta is al dente (9-10 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and mix in white cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella until fully melted and creamy.
  • In a small bowl, combine panko, garlic powder, and paprika. Toast mixture in olive oil until golden.
  • Serve mac and cheese topped with toasted breadcrumbs.
